Australia's first and only Sondheim repertory company, Watch This is a bold, grass-roots organisation presenting outstanding, sophisticated musical theatre to audiences in Melbourne and regional Victoria. Our ambition and commitment to the highest production/ performance standards attract teams of wonderfully talented artists and creatives.
In six short years, we've garnered an enviable reputation in a highly competitive field, boasting twelve Green Room Award nominations alongside multi-million dollar commercial and state sponsored productions, with Adrian Li Donni winning Best Supporting Actor for Pacific Overtures in 2014. We have also broken ground by successfully touring full-scale musicals to regional centres.
We are passionate about creating exciting, immediate theatrical experiences for theatre-goers. We are also committed to ensuring that these experiences are available to as many people as possible - a philosophy that informs the relatively simple matter of ticket pricing to more complex touring proposals.
Past productions include Assassins, Pacific Overtures, Company, Merrily We Roll Along and most recently, A Little Night Music starring Nadine Garner and John O'May. All projects to date have been made possible by the generosity of the Lyngala Foundation and other visionary individuals/ organisations, including the Opera & Arts Support Group and Robert Salzer Foundation. Since 2016, Watch This has recently been included on the Register of Cultural Organisations - an incredible endorsement of our contribution to the sector.

This month, we're celebrating the success of Watch This Associate MD, Luke Byrne, whose musical Between the Sky and Sea was showcased at the New York Musical Festival August 3. It was nominated for a whopping 11 awards and took out 5, including Best Musical and Outstanding Music. Our friends at Aussie Theatre wrote this lovely feature on his incredible success. Congratulations, Luke!
And while we're on the subject of press, we thought we'd throwback to this wonderful excerpt from Anne Marie Peard's 4-star review of Merrily We Roll Along, just over twelve months ago!
Watch This feed our need for Sondheim and introduce new audiences to the painful joy of his work. Now, can someone please give them some money so they can develop into one of our best companies - The Music, 2017
On that front, you can make a tax deductible donation to Watch This all year around. We'll put it to excellent use, we promise!
